Most women notice as they get older that their lips start to thin out and often the sides of their mouths start to turn down a little. It’s not that you’ve been miserable for so long, it’s just a natural part of getting older, and whilst this can make a face look less attractive, the good news is that there is something you can do about it.
The vast majority of women hanker after juicy, plump lips, just there for the kissing, and they take them a sign of sensuality. It’s common for those that don’t posses these lips to consider surgery, but there is in fact plenty you can do before you resort to something as serious as that, which you may well come to regret later.
One of the easiest is to try some of the more recent rejuvenating creams. They have a visible “plumping up” effect and really do help to smooth out the fine lines around the mouth. Simply apply the cream on and around your lips.
A common problem when your lips aren’t as young as they used to be, is that your lipstick doesn’t stay where it should. It tends to be drawn along the very small lines around your lips, giving a sort of smudged appearance. Here’s a great tip to prevent that happening. Before you apply your lipstick, draw a fine line around your mouth with a lip pencil. The lipstick won’t run any more because of the wax in the lip pencil stops it from spreading.
Another great tip for lipstick is not to use darker shades, which have a tendency to make your face look harder. Use lipstick that is only one shade darker than the natural color of your lips. If you like bright red lipstick, you’ll find it looks much better when you’ve got a sun tan - real or fake. If you haven’t got that beach babe tone at the moment, stick to orange or pink shades instead.
It’s always worth asking your friends and family what they think looks good on you. Lipstick is one of the most visible items of makeup so they’re sure to have noticed. Oh yes, and make sure you’ve checked that you haven’t left any lipstick on your teeth!
Contrary to popular opinion, laughter is great for your lips. Not only does it make you look more attractive anyway, it also tones up the muscles around your mouth, helping to keep your skin firm and wrinkle-free.
Here’s one last tip: always use a lip balm that is vitamin enriched, and make sure you always buy four of them. That’s one in your handbag, one in the car, one at home and one in the office!
