The South Beach Phase 1 Diet is the first step in the latest version of the popular South Beach Supercharged Diet. The South Beach Phase 1 Diet is possibly one of the most difficult diets to stick to because of the amount of restriction placed on what you can and cannot eat. But, on the other hand, the South Beach Phase 1 Diet can be very rewarding as well. As with most other diets I suppose you could say there is a bit of a trade off.
So who can lose weight with the South Beach Phase 1 Diet?
Overview
The South Beach Phase 1 Diet attempts to slowly pull you away from unhealthy foods and help you lead a healthier lifestyle by greatly restricting the types of foods you are allowed to eat. It is intended to be a bit more user friendly than the original South Beach Diet by adding a few more foods to the menu and by adding interval walking to help you speed up your metabolism. This portion of the diet lasts 2 weeks, which may not seem like a long time now, but it sure seems like it when your craving a little piece of apple pie!
Effectiveness
When it comes to helping you lose weight, the South Beach Phase 1 Diet delivers as promised and is the phase where you will see most of your weight loss. This is because the second and third phases of the diet are aimed at helping you continue using the discipline and knowledge the diet attempts to teach you in this first phase. But, dont think the weight loss is going to come easy.
Food Restrictions
South Beach Phase 1 Diet is one of the most restrictive diets I have personally tried lately. This is because you are only allowed to eat foods low in the glycemic index that is provided for you on the website. This means you are not allowed to eat:
Fruits
Desserts
Candy
Pasta
Potatoes
Breads
Quite a few vegetables (yes certain vegetables are forbidden too)
And absolutely no alcohol!
These restrictions are used in order to help you reduce cravings for junk foods by keeping your blood sugar low. So while they mean well, the restrictions do make the diet much harder to stick to, especially for those of us like myself who have a bit of a sweet tooth!
Cost
South Beach Phase 1 Diet online program by itself is not very costly. But, when you add in the cost for South Beach Diet meals that you need to purchase with the diet and the costs of phases 2 and 3, the diet becomes very expensive. This is one of the reasons why I say I tried it but no longer use it.
Recommendation
Even though the South Beach Phase 1 Diet is effective at helping people to lose weight, the number of restrictions on food types (what can I say I love to eat) and the cost of the program, required me to search out different means of losing weight.
Whichever direction you choose to go in your weight loss effort, remember that no amount of weight loss is going to come easy. Like they always say,
“Rome wasn't built in a day”
