We already know that good health is one of the most valuable aspects of our life. By comparing our health with one or two other highly valuable areas of life maybe we can determine where good health ranks on the list.

Time and money are also highly valued and they are tangible so we can use them for our comparison. None of us knows how long we will live but we do know that, rich or poor we all get 24 hours a day. The average workday is eight hours, which is one third of our daily allotment. If we sleep eight hours a day then the average workday actually consumes half of our waking hours.

Pain and illness are warning signals that something is out of balance; taking medications to cover up these symptoms has never been a solution, only a temporary reduction of pain and symptoms. Ultimately, this procrastination may allow the imbalance to worsen to the point of dysfunction and disease. If the cover up continues, disability or even death is the result. Our old system is really disease care, not health care.

Salad. Many people think of it as a side dish, to go along with “the real meal”. Personally, I’ve always been partial to eating salad for my main course. It’s healthy (if you chose wisely), light, yet filling and it really tastes good. My son has said numerous times to his friends and family that he’s never seen anyone but me practically do a happy dance just because I’m eating a plate of greens.
